The most boring article about dying you'll ever read comes from the New York Times this week. It's titled "Passionate Atheist?" It is an article about a young woman who died of a heart attack and was trying to get away from her faith. Though it is a bit boring, it makes me want to read more on this topic.

Passionate atheism is an intense form of atheism.
The idea that it's okay to say that you don't believe in God is an intense one. Yet even though it's not an actual belief, there is a sense that the word atheism implies that you believe that there is no God. In the New York Times article, the young woman who died was a passionate atheist. She didn't just believe that there was no God, she felt that every other religion is wrong and that God is real.
If you're religious, you probably also believe that the universe is basically a cruel, stupid place where everything you'd ever want to believe in is wrong. That makes you a little more likely to believe that we are all doomed to die here, alone. Also, if you're religious, you probably also believe that the only way to save yourself is to do the exact opposite of what you would want to do
. And death is that exact opposite.
Death is bad. Death is terrible. Death is bad. Death is dreadful. Death is awful. And death is bad. And Death is horrible. And Death is awful. And Death is bad. And Death is awful. And Death is terrible. And Death is terrible. And Death is awful. And Death is terrible. And Death is awful. And Death is dreadful. And Death is terrible. And Death is awful. And Death is dreadful. And Death is awful. And Death is dreadful.
You don't need an article about death to get the point about not dying, right? It's not like you'd ever need to find out how to stop suffering when you die. But just like not dying means that we're not going to die, not getting the point about not dying means that we've already lost a lot of our lives.
To die and to feel like you're still alive means that you're already experiencing pain.
And Death is awful because it's not really the way you're supposed to die. You can die in a bunch of different ways, but not all of them are awful. And the real problem with Death is that it's the absolute worst way to die.
Death is horrible because it's the worst way to die. What's worse than dying? Being dead. Not being dead at all. And being dead in a hospital or an ambulance. There is no way to really get the point that Death is awful because just dying is awful.
It’s not awful because Death is horrible. It’s awful because you really can’t die. Death is not a way to die. Death is the way to get there.
So how is it that this article is so boring?
I mean, what’s wrong with being a zombie? It’s not as if the article contains nothing interesting. It’s just a bunch of zombies.
It isn’t just that it’s boring. It’s that it provides no real solution. It’s a dead-end, a dead-end that doesn’t lead us anywhere. It’s a dead-end because it doesn’t tell us why it is a dead-end. We read it to see a bunch of dead people, which is not very good news.
