Why You Should Be Worried About the Future of Tribal

Tribal

The fact that tribal is slowly dying isn’t a surprise to me at all. I was raised in tribes, and I’ve been told that my tribe and I are in each other’s thoughts and minds and that I am an extension of them.

In tribes, it's common to have some people who are better off without the tribe, and some who might take less than they deserve because they aren't all that great. When tribes have to make decisions about how to best serve those people, the tribe will take the lesser of those options. That doesn't mean that it's wrong for tribes to choose to do things that will be detrimental to their members.

It’s not only in tribes that we find this kind of thing but in many organizations as well.

In the workplace, we’ve seen people who wouldn't be able to be a leader because of their age, or lack of experience, or whatever excuse they have to not be a leader. Many of us have stories about situations where our bosses or our co-workers have had to make decisions that will cause them to lose their jobs.

The problem is that these behaviors and attitudes happen because of a lack of self-awareness. We don't realize how the world works. We assume that what we do is the only way to get what we want, we get into things we don't need to end up hurting ourselves or the people around us. Because we don't know how the world is, we don't realize how much harm we are doing to ourselves.

A lot of people get into jobs that they don't need to do to be successful (they just want a paycheck), but some get into their current job because they want to be in control or because it seems to be the only way they can do their job. The two aren't mutually exclusive though.

Many people who are in control and do not realize they are in control, end up doing things that harm others or themselves.

The reality is that the world is extremely violent, and even violent people arent always aware of the harm they are causing to others. Most of the harm and violence are done by other people. If we can change the way we relate to each other and our society, it can make a huge difference in how we treat others.

By being in control and not realizing it, we allow the system to control us. It is easy for the system to get in our way of doing things that we want to do. For example, if you are a parent and you keep your kids in a safe and well-lit environment, you are more likely to do things like hit your child with a shoe.
