I know a lot of people out there are probably familiar with these “mistakes” from the past. I’m not one of them though. So, I’ve decided to put them into my own words.
The first mistake I’d like to share with you is one that I see a lot. It is when I see someone who’s spending money on something they know they can do without it. For example, I recently went to a concert for the first time in years and I thought I’d just sit in the bleachers and watch the band, but instead, I spent a lot of money on a ticket.
The main reason this is a mistake is that you’re paying for something you don’t need. You don’t need that concert ticket and you probably don’t need to spend a lot of money on it. The second reason this is a mistake is that you’re thinking about spending money you don’t have.
The best way to avoid this is to stop spending money you don’t have.
I was in a car accident in August and after spending half a million dollars on accident insurance, I had to cancel the car insurance. It was a stupid mistake in hindsight, but it was one that I had to make at the moment. In the end, I ended up spending about $1,000 on insurance and some other things I didn’t really need.
That’s a lot of money and you might be tempted to spend it on something you don't need. If you cant imagine replacing a broken window with a new one, you might want to think about a new TV.
Another mistake that might get you in trouble is to not take a necessary vacation. But it has to be one that you can afford. There are plenty of times when you can skip out on a vacation because you can not afford the travel. If you have to go somewhere, go somewhere where you can find cheap flights.
Or if you can not afford the cost of the flight, you can rent a car and you can get a car rental for a cheaper price.
Another common mistake is not paying for something you have a right to use or use up. If you have a right to use a car or a sofa, or a couch, or a dishwasher, or a computer, then don't use it for free. Not only will you be wasting money but you may just be creating a situation where you won’t be able to use it for free in the future. Also, don’t overspend on things that are free.
This is a common mistake people make. It’s also a mistake that will cost you a lot more in the long run. Let’s face it, if you have a free couch or a free dishwasher, you might not have to use them for the rest of your life or you might be forced to find a way to use them until you die.
