The one thing about prime that keeps me up at night is that I know it’s going to be a special thing and I will actually be happy about it.
I can't say that I have any real love for it, but the concept of a super-duper special thing just seems like a good, fun thing to me. That is until I remember I need to get up at the crack of dawn to make it, and then I wonder how the hell I'm going to get up at the crack of dawn with my kids and my wife asleep.
That brings us back to our point; how does your day-to-day life affect your ability to have high expectations? We all have our own personal definition of what makes a special thing.
There are many factors that go into the decision to go to bed at a certain time.
But one of the biggest ones is the time of the day. If you are in a really long line and you sleep in during the late afternoon, you are essentially giving yourself an extra hour to prepare for the day, because you have nothing to do during the afternoon. It is no different if you sleep in at 8am instead of 4pm.
It's easy to get frustrated when you don't have the time to go out to dinner, watch a movie, or do whatever you want to do that evening. You might start thinking that you have to get it all done because you "need" to be at work early the next day. But just because you have to go to work doesn't mean you have to. If you have the time, you can take a nap or a shower, but if you don't, you can't.
If you work in a cubicle, you have to be somewhere. Unless you are a lawyer, it's hard to get away from your work. Your boss probably doesn't even like the idea of you being laid off, so you have to be somewhere. Or at least in the same building. And if you are in the same building as your boss, you have to be somewhere.
That's a lot of work.
The one thing about the corporate world you don’t have to worry about is the people that you work with. They are all probably at your office going through their daily routine. But you don't have to worry about them. In fact, you have to make sure that you aren't being watched, because if they are, they are probably up there going through the same routine that you are. So you have to be somewhere. That's a lot of work.
This is why you see managers and employees at your office all the time, even if you can't see them. They are there to make sure that you aren't being watched. But you are. And they are probably watching you now.
